In this film, Elle Fanning is a magical young girl existing outside of space and time. She inhabits an odd, timeless landscape that is both old and modern. She spends her days playing and collecting objects from history, things that she loves. She appears timeless. We follow her on a beautifully photographed, sun-drenched walk through oil fields. The mood is light and playful as she travels toward an old craftsman house on the property. Once inside the house mysterious events unfold.

A queer Science Fiction, that engages the utopian impulses of the genre, not through the imagining of another world, but through the rendering of this world as Other. All subjects are treated as alien, or as radical others, who search for, or advance different ideological, psychological, or sexual ideals of belonging. Subjects oscillate between the contemplation of past societal traumas and idealizations of futurity that refuse to synthesize or resolve, but instead reveal a troubling satire of the present.

Told through animated charcoal drawings, this is a story of resilience about a woman still haunted by the horrors of war.
